It’s been a long time

This is when it’s a very good thing I’m not writing this blog for money – I’ve had absolutely zero interest in writing recently! Not that life hasn’t been happening at, well the speed of life (hah!) but I’ve just not cared to sit in front of the computer to put fingers to keyboard.

I’m still loving my wardrobe and the new clothes I’ve purchased for the Fall. I am, very surprisingly, really enjoying having not so many items in my closet. Getting dressed is a breeze, everything looks good, makes me feel good in it and everything is high quality so I know it will last. I can dress items up, or down, as the day warrants it and everything coordinates. I also haven’t been feeling that vague dissatisfaction that has always led me to perusing online websites in the past – I’m happy with what I have and don’t feel the need for more. Trust me when I say this is a very new feeling for me. When I feel that urge for something new, I look at what I have and realize that’s enough. No reason for another sweater, shirt, etc.

Mooch the Wonder Pooch is still a darling – wishing he was house trained but his personality is so sweet and so loving and he’s SO good with J and Pippin that I have no complaints. Sometimes things just fall into place with a perfect ‘click’.

Spent a long weekend at the beach with my family – I think my favorite part was watching J and his cousin D play together, those two are best buds and are going to love growing up together. They’re very different personalities but they already respect each other and have so much fun together. My second favorite was walking the beach just D and I. Collecting sand dollars, every one of them reminding me of my grandmother and how she used to love to collect them too. We came back with quite a few which we took to J’s school for sharing. Spreading the sand dollar love.

Oh how happy I’ve been in the kitchen recently! Soups, stews, breads, sautéing greens, roasting squash, this is most very definitely my favorite time of year for cooking – there’s nothing better than a cold night and a soup and bread for dinner. Oh yeah.

We have been drinking up our cellar of red wine. We got in the habit of purchasing futures and bottles for cellaring back in my Private Equity days when we could afford such things. Unfortunately a few of the bottles didn’t cellar well – a lesson to me to drink up for tomorrow your bottle may be corked. There’s something nifty about living for today too and enjoying what you have,

Off to take J to soccer – the kid wants to learn to play everything. I love that about him.
